Welcome

Juan Montoya immigrated from Rancho Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico to the United States in 1914 to find a better life for his family and to escape the persecutions of the Mexican revolution. Why Kansas City? At the time there were many unskilled labor positions that were being filled by Mexican immigrants. He worked at the Kansas City Terminal Railway Company. His wife Cecilia Dominguez died in 1922 leaving behind Juan and eight children. Most of the Montoyas in Kansas City right now are direct descendents of Juan or one of his brothers: Daniel, Benjamin, or Clemente
